UR Caffe - 2014
We are the ladieslads that lunch. It was a refreshing 42 degree Sunday, when Nate and I made an attempt to beat the horrid weather and find some sustenance.
UR Caffe on North Adelaide’s Melbourne Street, is without a doubt one of my favourite cafe’s in Adelaide. Featuring an all day breakfast and lunch menu, including a great range of “Go Healthy” smoothies - hurrar for antioxidants!!
Cosy, eclectic, featuring a huge chalk board menu on the wall….. It’s difficult not to fall in love with the interior. Incredibly friendly staff, I’ve visited numerous times over the years, and the service has always been cheerfully upbeat.
I started with an Acai Smoothie - acai powder with fat free organic yoghurt, skim milk, and mixed berries.
Now this is MY type of drink - nutritional powerhouse in liquid form, the juice was cool and invigorating and not overly sweet, a great fruity beverage on this stinker of a day.
I didn’t try the Mango Smoothie, but it looked amazingly refreshing.
Nate’s Aroy Eggs arrived first - House made cauliflower puree, house made baked beans, prosciutto, poached eggs with sourdough toast.
Damn, it looked mouthwatering. I didn’t sample any, but it certainly received positive feedback from its owner.
I opted for the “staff recommended” Boyds Chicken Salad - grilled marinated chicken, salad mix, radish, bean sprouts, red onion, macadamia crumb, cucumber and tomato with a UR Thai style dressing.
Wholly hell, the salad was incredibly appetising. Bold and invigorating flavours thanks to the addictive Thai dressing, the chicken was lean and not too dry, and the salad mix was satisfyingly fresh. Seriously, a difficult dish to fault.
Despite our late arrival at 2pm, the cafe was still three quarters full and I can understand why. The food’s of a high quality and tastes super delicious. The staff are awesome, and they’ve truly found their own rhythm of interior style. Parking along Melbourne Street can be somewhat problematic during the week, but you should be fine on weekends.
If you’re looking for a new place to satisfy your brunch/lunch cravings around North Adelaide, check out UR Caffe. It’s a winner!
Until next time, happy eats :)
