Top Paddock

Saturday morning on a weekend away in Melbourne - of course we’re going to brunch!

Enter Top Paddock.

As expected, the cafe is thriving on a Saturday morning - people queuing out the door.

Seated in less than fifteen minutes, I took a moment to absorb the atmosphere.

There is no doubt that the cafe’s interior design  is stylish and highly polished. Featuring multiple sky lights and large glass windows, the morning sun bathing the interior was truly serene. Sure, it was somewhat chaotic with the sheer amount of diners,  yet, this is where the brilliance of the interior layout truly sparkled!

Featuring an all day breakfast/lunch menu, I was blown away when my food arrived the table. The presentation of the Oat Porridge with strawberry & rhubarb compote, violet sugar and pistachioswas utterly mesmerising!

Boy-oh-boy, this was one of the best porridges breakfast’s I’ve ever had - anywhere! Smooth and oh so velvety, the strawberry and rhubarb provided just enough sweetness combining effortlessly with the creamy oats.

Jayne ordered the seasonal avocado with lime, sea salt on sourdough.

Visually, a fairly simple dish, but Jayne commented that the avocado was fresh teaming deliciously with the lime and sea salt - lovely bread too.

I’m not a coffee drinker, but espresso aficionados won’t be disappointed - Top Paddock use Five Senses Coffee in addition to the in-house roaster to generate signature blends to compliment the menu.

Having worked in hospitality myself, I can certainly understand the pressures of a busy trading period - and this is where Top Paddock’s highly polished staff showed that not even the best are immune to slip-ups. One of Jayne’s latte orders went missing, but they were quick to rectify the situation. Otherwise, the staff were top-notch.

Top Paddock managed to eclipse my already high expectations. Friendly staff, mouthwatering food in a chic environment - believe the hype - Top Paddock’s marvellous!

Until next time, happy eats :)
