Three Bags Full - 2013
A couple of weeks ago, a spur of the moment decision landed yours truly in Melbourne for the weekend with my good friend Kat. Keen to visit as many eateries in 48 hours as humanly possible - Three Bags Full was definitely on the list!
A ten minute cab drive from the CBD brought us to the lovely area of Abbotsford in Richmond. The cafe’s exterior is deceptive, not dissimilar to an industrial site - that is, until you step inside……
Eagerly greeted by one of the staff members - the interior is simple, yet chic. The dining area, spread across several large rooms, features plenty of seating options. Large north facing windows flooding the interior - it was truly calming.
Arriving around 11.30am - as tempting as the breakfast menu looked…….we both opted for two drinks and two lunch dishes.
Would you look at this juice! Oh so luminous, Kat’s apple, pear & mint juice was exquisitely refreshing without being too sweet. Yay for the morning antioxidant boost!
I had the Eggs in hell. Damn, this was a brilliant dish. The chorizo had a lovely but not overbearing heat teaming flawlessly with the rich tomato ragu. The poached eggs were superb, trickling ever so gently over the nicely grilled polenta. Decent serving size, enough to feel comfortably satisfied.
Kat’s Zucchini and mint fritters looked amazingly delectable! Gaining instant approval from its owner, I have no doubt it was anything less than pleasurable.
Three Bags Full certainly lived up to its reputation. Mouthwatering nosh combined with affable staff and a menu that’ll please any foodie - they certainly made an honest man out of me - leaving the cafe as one Smiling Foodie ;)
Until next times, happy noms :)
