Ruby’s Diner - Sydney eats

Sydney….it’s marvellous to see you again!

Oh dear…..it’s a Saturday morning after a night of….ummm….frivolity! Marc suggests Ruby’s Diner in Waverley.

Arriving to a scene of hungry patrons, we were shortly seated after a brief wait - our table bathed in that gorgeous Sydney sunlight - oh hi Vitamin D!

Vitamin depleted from the night before, juices are a must!

Cold pressed green juice- cucumber, silver beet, celery, green apple & lemon - revitalising and oh so alkalising! (lol he’s obviously VERY camera shy…..NOT!)

Marc had the 55- beetroot, watermelon, apple, carrot, lemon, ginger. He enjoyed it, but the ginger flavour was far too prominent. Credit to the staff - even in the midst of a busy trading period, they offered to remake it - big tick!

Perusing the menu, my eyes shot straight to the bircher.

COCONUT QUINOA BIRCHER- apple, pear, pistachio crumble & coconut caramel.

Light and very refreshing, but definitely needed the coconut caramel to complete the dish. Quinoa has a subtle nutty taste, and a somewhat crackling texture not dissimilar to couscous - if quinoa isn’t your cup of tea, there’s several muesli options (five grain, spelt granola and natural) - another tick!

Marc ordered SCRAMBLED EGGS with the works (tomato, bacon and mushrooms with chilli jam).

MUSHROOMS for the win!! Robust flavour and a dense, beefy texture combined flawlessly with the addictive chilli jam - worth turning vegetarian for!!

This place is really hard to fault. Waiting times might be more significant if you have a larger party, but it’s well worth it! Truly capturing the essence of an enjoyable brunch experience, Ruby’s Diner have it going on!
