Oslo, Norway 2012
Greetings my foodie lovers! My apologies for my lack of updates recently, it’s been an interesting month travel wise! We’ve gone from Scandinavia, down to Scotland (and the UK), across to Canada and now we’re ending the trip in Japan. Cant wait to show you all the pictures…..serious food porn! Anyway time for today’s post….I welcome you to the lovely city of Oslo in Norway.
Oslo, like most of Scandinavia had a really lovely, social feel to it. I remember walking the street after dinner on a Tuesday night and thinking how comparable it is to a Saturday night in New York. The city had an amazing buzz to it that could only be described as electric. The city was superb for foodies, with cuisine offerings from all over the world. The city wasn’t cheap, but the quality and service remains at a very high standard.
If there’s one fact you need to know about me (food wise), it’s the fact I have a slight crepe addiction. I seriously cannot help myself. Sweet or savory, breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert - it seriously is my moment of blissful happiness when eating a crepe. I found this adorable (albeit tiny) crepe cafe five minutes away from where we were staying. Their crepes were amazing, definitely comparable to the ones I’ve enjoyed in France. I am actually salivating over the thought of their banana, peanut butter & nutella crepe. So simple, yet so amazing. They also had an amazing range of galette’s with really delicious combinations like cheese, spinach, tomato, walnuts drizzled with a lather of honey.
If your ever in Olso, make sure you give Apent Bakeri a visit. Very delicious bread made fresh daily, I went there on several occasions for lunch and breakfast…and was always greeted with a friendly smile. Try their pancakes for breakfast….a very sweet and inexpensive way to start the day!
I was sad to say goodbye to Norway, it truly was a blissful few days. Definitely I place I will go back to one day. Anyway….the trip must go on! Next post - Scotland & the UK!
