Indian Temptations - Adelaide eats

It’s a freezing Friday night, and we’re mourning the passing of another working week the best way foodies know how……EATING!!

Indian Temptations has been around for a number of years…..attracting Adelaide crowds from both far and wide. The food is exceptionally good - well worth the road trip out North!

Dining with fellow food bloggers dbitesI Only Eat Desserts & Foodie Ling- the casual Indian cafe/restaurant is designed around takeaway, but if you get there early enough, you should be able to snag a table like we were able to.

The place was busy on Friday night, with a constant flow of customers both dining in and taking away. The waft of the Indian aromas was utterly intoxicating.

Entrees to start.

Samosa Chat- Tangy chat served with mint chutney, tamarind chutney, chick peas, yoghurt and diced onions.

Our first dish also happens to be my favourite. It was spicy, zesty and sweet all at once. The mint chutney completed the dish, working harmoniously with the perfectly cooked chickpeas and onions. A lovely balance of flavours.

Tandoori Chicken- Marinated chicken pieces roasted in the Tandoor.

These chicken thighs were boneless, moist and oh so tender. The chicken was lean, and of excellent quality.

Garlic Naanand Roti - I adore naan and roti. Like seriously ADORE. Major self control is always practiced when it’s presented at the table, especially some as good as this! Both the garlic naan and roti is light, soft and buttery - seriously delicious!

Moving onto the mains…….

Butter Chicken- Marinated chicken cooked in tandoori spices, tomatoes and a dash of cream.

The chicken was very tender and juicy, The dish was not spicy at all, and is great to have with either naan or rice. Butter chicken is one of my favourite Indian dishes, Indian Temptation’s is certainly up there with the best in Adelaide.

Chicken Biryani - Long grained Basmati Rice, exotic indian spices cooked with chunky Chicken piece’s.

The biryani is served in layers of basmati rice, and is immersed in-between with succulent pieces of chicken, in a thick spicy sauce. My first time trying this Indian staple, one which I can highly recommend!

Beef Vindaloo

Perfect for a cold winters evening, lovers of that signature Indian heat must order this dish. Like the dishes before, the meat was juicy and tender with the perfect level of spiciness. Utterly melt-in-your-mouth mastery!

Raita - Creamy and wonderfully velvet-like. The dish is both cooling and spicy, with the yogurt soothing the mouth while eating spicy food we had.

Working in perfect unison with the vindaloo, even though it was considered a side dish, is was certainly a standout of the evening - everyone agreed!

Mango Chutney- the only dish of the evening I didn’t enjoy. Not that the chutney was of inferior quality, I’m just not a chutney fan - PERIOD.

I was able to try some of the Mango Lassi and it was like liquid gold. One of my favourite yoghurt based beverages, A mango lassi is similar to a milkshake but yoghurt is used instead of milk. Definetely the best I’ve tasted in Adelaide - many of the ones I’ve had in Adelaide have been overly sweet, but Indian Temptations and that perfect blend of mango sweetness with an extremely smooth texture. Pure elation!

No doubt about it, Indian Temptations is one of the best Indian eateries in Adelaide (if not THE best). Uni students take notice - THIS PLACE IS CHEAP!! Amazing food, friendly and efficient service - don’t say you’ve had the best Indian in Adelaide until you’ve been here!!

Until next time, happy noms :)
