Big Table - 2013

The Big Table, housed in Adelaide’s central markets, is an absolute staple when it comes to breaking the fast in the CBD.

Saturday morning brunch with B from I only eat desserts & Louis from Louis Fameli, the three of us gazed at the rather seductive menu posted on the wall.

The staff were brilliant - friendly, affable and provided fantastic suggestions - I was sold as soon as ‘French toast’ reached my ears.

Sweet wholly mother of mercy, the French toast was sublime! Boasting a marvellous fluffy texture, combined beautifully with the maple syrup, rhubarb compote, strawberries and cinnamon. Sugar craving - fixed!

Lewis’s bacon and egg roll and Bernadette’s scrambled eggs looked equally appealing and certainly received praise from their owner’s - generous servings too, Bernadette struggling to to finish. Thankfully, several of the menu items have a half serve option for those less famished.

I also ordered a strawberry/banana soy smoothie (not pictured) - the flavours were pleasing, but the texture was far too dense, making it near impossible to finish with a straw - major first world problems :/

It’s great to know that after countless visits over the years, the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff remain a significant ingredient. For a delicious, relaxed breakfast in the central markets - the Big Table reigns supreme.

Until next time, happy eats :)
