Berlin, Germany 2012
Ahh the spectacular city of Berlin in Germany. Definitely one of my favorite cities in the world. With a perfect mix of old world charm and new age design. Very efficient public transport system makes sightseeing not just easy, but convenient too.
Being in such a large, touristy city meant we had no shortage of activities to keep Nick & I busy. Some of the attractions we saw included the Pergamon Museum (ancient history), the world famous Berlin Zoo & Aquarium, and the restored section of the Berlin Wall. All fantastic attractions, highly recommended if visiting Berlin.
Thanks to a fantastic recommendation by a friend, I was also fortunate to eat a cafe/restaurant in our hostel’s area named Anna Blume. We actually visited three times during our visit; once for dinner, the following morning for breakfast, and for a late night dessert. Overdoing it? Yes….most definitely, but I don’t care, their food is that delicious. I’m actually salivating at the thought of their food. If your ever in Berlin, it’s worth a trip; try their dessert crepes, go there for breakfast, and make sure you try a slice of their heavenly cakes.
Anyway….you can clearly see I had an absolute ball trying all the different foods on offer in Berlin. Nick and I tried the traditional German dish, Maultaschen (German take on ravioli). While it actually reminded me of more of a pasty, but it was very flavorsome and enjoyable. I Highly recommend sampling some if your ever in Germany.
Berlin has without a doubt been a highlight of the journey so far. The locals are extremely friendly, and the city has a gorgeous open feel to it. If your visiting Germany, do yourself a favor and include Berlin. The city where you can have your cake and eat it too!
The journey continues….En route to Paris!
